Dr. Mike Anderson
Dr. Anderson comes to Kulshan Veterinary Hospital from the state of
Minnesota where he was born and raised. He graduated from the
University of Minnesota in 1978. He is interested in all aspects of
dairy medicine and surgery as well as new world camelids. He is a
member of numerous organizations including the AABP, AASRP, NMC,
AVMA and the WSVMA.
In his spare time, Mike is an avid golfer
and skier. He also likes to spend time in the garden. |

Dr. Gale DeJong
Dr. Gale DeJong was born and raised in Lynden and graduated from WSU.
His focus is primarily in large animal medicine and surgery.
He has a special interest in nutrition and its use to improve
health and performance. He
is an active member of many organizations including the AVMA, AABP,
AAEP, AASRP and WSVMA. In
his free time, Gale enjoys spending time with his family, fishing,
gardening or other outdoor activities.

Dr. Dave Hardman
[Retired] (Read
a Thank You from Dr. Hardman)
Dr. Hardman was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised near
Baker City, Oregon. He graduated High School in 1962 and from
Washington State University in 1969. His special interests lie
in bovine medicine and he is a member of the AABP, AVMA and the
WSVMA.
Dave and his
wife, Paula, live in Lynden and have two grown children. Aside
from work, Dave enjoys upland bird hunting and rowing. He is a
member of the United Methodist Church. He also enjoys spending
time with his two canine companions, Molly and Jack.

Dr.
Amber Itle
Dr.
Amber Itle was born and raised in central Pennsylvania on her
family’s dairy farm, Vale
Wood Farms. She graduated with a BS from Penn State in 1999 and
then earned her veterinary degree from the University of
Pennsylvania in 2003. She
enjoys all aspects of large animal practice but has a special
interest in small ruminants and animal welfare issues.
Dr Itle is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Animal
Welfare at the University of British Columbia.
In her free time she enjoys tele-skiing, backpacking,
mountain biking and climbing with her husband, Jason, her daughter,
Cecelia, and her puppy, Edith.

Dr. Brooke Lucas
Dr.
Lucas, previously Dr. Johnson, is a Pacific Northwest native from
Oregon. She graduated from Cornell University and then completed a
one year equine medicine and surgery internship at Pilchuck
Veterinary Hospital in Snohomish, WA prior to joining the Kulshan
team. She is certified in animal chiropractic by the International
Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Her special interests include
complimentary medicine, back and spinal care, rehabilitation,
neonatology and animal disaster response.
During vet school Dr. Lucas received a grant to research mastitis
rates of dairy yak on the Tibetan Plateau in China. She also is a
member of the Washington State Animal Response Team and a board
member of Northwest Therapeutic Riding Center.
Outside of work Dr. Lucas
enjoys spending time with her husband Timothy, who she met on a
kayaking trip, and their dog, Mulak, and cats, Simon and Hilde. She
also finds time to hike, ski, cook and quilt.

Dr. Gordon Plotts
Dr. Plotts was born in Forsyth, Montana and grew up in southeast
Montana near the town of Custer. He is a Washington State
University graduate and currently practicing primarily large animal
medicine. He also has a keen interest in small animal
orthopedic surgery. He is a member of the AABP, AAEP and AVMA.
In his spare time, Gordon
enjoys bicycling and boating.

Dr. David Sauter
Dr. Sauter is a Minnesota native that has moved out west. He
graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1987. Following
graduation he did an internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital
in Lexington, Kentucky. After this internship, he continued to
work exclusively with horses for another five years in Kentucky
before joining Kulshan Veterinary Hospital. He is a member of
the AAEP, AVMA and the WSVMA.
Outside of veterinary medicine, David
and his wife Kim enjoy hiking, photography and spoiling his two
daughters, Francis and Grace. They share their farm with 5 horses, 3
ducks and about a dozen chickens.

Dr. Paul Schwab
Dr. Schwab comes to Kulshan from Oklahoma where he was born and
raised. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1996.
He enjoys many aspects of large animal medicine encompassing equine,
dairy and small ruminant practice. He is a member of the AABP,
AAEP, WSVMA and AVMA.
In addition to his passion for
cooking, Paul enjoys many
outdoor activities with his wife, Debbie, and daughter, Ellie;
including mountain biking and skiing.
