Veterinarians:
Large Animal
Dr.
Anderson
Dr. Anderson comes to Kulshan Veterinary Hospital from the state of
Minnesota where he was born and raised. He graduated from the
University of Minnesota in 1978. He is interested in all aspects of
dairy medicine and surgery as well as new world camelids. He is a
member of numerous organizations including the AABP, AASRP, NMC,
AVMA and the WSVMA.
In his spare time, Mike is an avid golfer
and skier. He also likes to spend time in the garden. |

Dr. DeJong
Dr. DeJong was born and raised in Lynden and graduated from
Washington State University in 1980. His focus is large animal
medicine with an emphasis in dairy production medicine and
nutrition. He is a member of the AABP, AVMA and the WSVMA.
In his free time, Gale enjoys spending time with his family, fishing
and participating in water sports.

Dr. Hardman
Dr. Hardman was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised near
Baker City, Oregon. He graduated High School in 1962 and from
Washington State University in 1969. His special interests lie
in bovine medicine and he is a member of the AABP, AVMA and the
WSVMA.
Dave and his
wife, Paula, live in Lynden and have two grown children. Aside
from work, Dave enjoys upland bird hunting and rowing. He is a
member of the United Methodist Church. He also enjoys spending
time with his two canine companions, Molly and Jack.

Dr. Itle
Dr. Itle hails from Martinsburg, PA. She graduated from Penn State
University and the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of
AABP, AASRP, AVMA, WSAVMA, and Tri-County Vet Medical Assoc. Amber
enjoys the diversity of all large animals, including small ruminants
and population preventative medicine.
When not working on large animals,
Amber and her husband Jason, who is a science teacher, enjoy
cycling, tele-skiing, mountaineering, and climbing.

Dr. Johnson
Dr. Johnson comes to us from Oakridge, Oregon. She earned a B.S. in
Microbiology from Oregon State University and a DVM from Cornell
University. She interned in equine surgery and medicine for 1 year
at the Pilchuck Vet Hospital in Snohomish, WA. In 2004, Dr. Johnson
received a grant to study mastitis rates in yaks of the Tibetan
Plateau in Gansu, China. Dr. Johnson has a keen interest in large
Animal Emergency Rescue and a goal of becoming certified in
veterinary chiropractic care.
Outside of large animal care and
treatment Brooke shares her home with her dog, Mulak and cat, Simon.
She also enjoys traveling, hiking, quilting, and telemark skiing

Dr. Plotts
Dr. Plotts was born in Forsyth, Montana and grew up in southeast
Montana near the town of Custer. He is a Washington State
University graduate and currently practicing primarily large animal
medicine. He also has a keen interest in small animal
orthopedic surgery. He is a member of the AABP, AAEP and AVMA.
In his spare time, Gordon
enjoys bicycling and boating.

Dr. Sauter
Dr. Sauter is a Minnesota native that has moved out west. He
graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1987. Following
graduation he did an internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital
in Lexington, Kentucky. After this internship, he continued to
work exclusively with horses for another five years in Kentucky
before joining Kulshan Veterinary Hospital. He is a member of
the AAEP, AVMA and the WSVMA.
Outside of veterinary medicine, David
and his wife Kim enjoy hiking, photography and spoiling his two
daughters, Francis and Grace. They share their farm with 5 horses, 3
ducks and about a dozen chickens.

Dr. Schwab
Dr. Schwab comes to Kulshan from Oklahoma where he was born and
raised. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1996.
He enjoys many aspects of large animal medicine encompassing equine,
dairy and small ruminant practice. He is a member of the AABP,
AAEP, WSVMA and AVMA.
In addition to his passion for
cooking, Paul enjoys many
outdoor activities with his wife, Debbie, and daughter, Ellie;
including mountain biking and skiing.
