Dr. Hardman Retires

To my dear friends, clients, staff, and my family,

I give you a huge thank you. I will retire as of Oct 1, 2011. This has been a difficult decision for me emotionally, having been at this profession since 1969. It has been a good 42 years. There are many aspects of the profession I will miss. Especially my clients and my support staff, the folks that keep KVH running.
Coming to Lynden to join Drs. Virginia Streets and Vern Pedersen in September of 1972, I was young, energetic, and optimistic, but concerned how I would be accepted in a new community. My main goal was to be involved in a mixed practice with emphasis on large animal especially bovine and equine, but wanting to keep some interest in small animal as well. The practice in Lynden seemed to be a good fit. Lynden was also reasonably close to Paula’s parents and offered a quiet community in which to raise children. I need not have worried. The community has been good to me since day one.
This practice has grown from a three veterinarian fire engine practice, to a diversified fourteen doctor practice with emphasis on preventive, and well being medicine. We have continually grown and been able to develop special interests to keep up with the rapidly expanding knowledge and new technology of veterinary medicine.
In 1972 I never dreamed that Kulshan would grow to the practice it is today. It has been a fast 39 years. It pays to surround yourself with smarter people whom keep you motivated, and progressive to dream even bigger. Veterinary medicine and the challenges it has presented me have been a pleasure. I cherish the friends and relationships developed over the years. As my age and body have forced me to slow down I have no regrets with my career choice. Just wish I could find that fountain of youth.
To each and every client and each staff member past and present I want you to know how much I appreciate what you have done for me. I have always felt I could only be as successful as the staff surrounding me. They have my thanks and respect. I sincerely appreciate the faith and trust and support shown by each client. Lastly, thanks to my understanding and loving wife Paula, and two children Jennifer and Ben. I could not have been successful with out their support. It has been a great
career; again I thank you all.

With Love and Respect,
W. David Hardman
